Challenge Overview

Students build on their glider work from the Data Challenge by creating a precise 3D digital model of the physical cardstock glider using 3D modeling software. Students measure every part of the glider using calipers and rulers, then translate those measurements into a digital model — part by part. By the end of the challenge, each student has a complete 3D model of the glider and a real experience with the kind of computer-aided design (CAD) tools engineers use in industry.
