Challenge Overview

Students step into the role of market researchers for the owner of Pixel Palace Arcade.

Working in teams, students respond to a Request for Proposals (RFP) by collecting and visualizing class data, calculating cost and profit for each game in the arcade, and writing a recommendation proposal that tells the owner which games to keep, change, or remove.

Students practice data collection and visualization, learn to distinguish revenue, cost, and profit, and use the Engineering Design Process to make sense of an open-ended business problem. The unit sets up the Systems and Design challenges that follow, in which students will test the odds of winning and design a better game.
